Boyd-Wherritt-Wilson family papers, 1825-1940.

The Boyd-Wherritt-Wilson family papers consist of personal and business letters, family photographs, deeds of sale, wills, death notices, birth and marriage announcements, and various receipts and invoices. Also included are the bill of sale of a young slave woman in 1838 and a 19th century chain letter "written by J.C. our lord and saviour." These papers will be of particular interest to those researching the Boyd, Wherritt, and Wilson families of Kentucky and Texas. Letters reveal brief accounts of Texas and Kentucky history, including the "Mexican Excitement" which occurred in Texas ca. 1860 and service by family members in the Confederate Army and Navy during the Civil War.
